Say hello to ‘Morag’, the ‘Hairy Coo’
Morag lives on the West Coast of Scotland, on the Isle of Lismore.
As a highland cow (Muckle Coo) her distinctive horns and long, wavy, woolly coat can be a range of colours, even duck egg blue!
Nobody is quite sure if these cows can actually see where they are going! With that long fringe, known as a ‘dossan’ blocking the way! It protects her eyes from flies and it contributes to her stunning appearance, which makes the breed so popular.
My passion for this breed started 32 years ago. We spent our honeymoon in Scotland. This was the first time I’d seen these stunning animals. We have a photograph from the time, of me falling headlong into a ditch alongside a field full of highland cattle. It still makes me smile even whilst writing this!
This is a one off representation of Morag & will be supplied mounted on a joiner made wooden plinth along with a photograph of her in her natural habitat.
