FAIR PRICE
Our beef & lamb is not only great tasting but it is also great value. Buying a box is the cheapest way to fill the freezer.

PROVENANCE / TERROIRE :-

Breeds- Pedigree Hereford Beef, not cross-breeds.

Lamb - Easycare, which is a combination of the Wiltshire Horn & the Nelson Welsh Mountain breeds. This breed self sheds its own short fleece, but keeps a hair coat like a cow. This feature saves a lot of hassle and problems with keeping the flock and greatly reduces the use of chemicals.

Location- all livestock is born & bred on our Lancashire farm close to Preston.

Soil- Medium soil with a clay element, causing water logging in wet weather & winter. We have a deep topsoil over a clay subsoil.

Pastures- A mixture of unimproved grassland & improved grass + Clover + Chicory + Radish. The deep rooting plants have been included to break up the soil and improve drainage. We use the manure from the sheds as fertiliser plus a small amount of inorganics and lime to maintain good balance of nutrients as needed. Weed control is mainly by manual topping of thistle patches. Our fields are quite small at between 3 to 6 acres mostly, surrounded by large hedges. We have plenty of wildlife on the farm from small voles up-to large birds of prey.

Hedges & Trees- the sheep especially browse the hedges. Every field is surrounded by tall hedges and mature trees, including many Oak trees. The hedges and trees are valuable as natural wind breaks & shelter, especially when the lambs are born.
